ChatON's Open Strategy
ChatON currently pursues two open strategies for 3rd party developers and services.
The first strategy is to establish an ecosystem with 3rd party applications and services using ChatON APIs based on ChatON users and features.
Another strategy is to provide a business model based on 3rd party content providers' good contents to ChatON users. Live service cannot be provided individually.
- ChatON API - 3rd Party Apps(ChatON AI)
- 3rd party apps to leverage existing ChatON user base and features
- Build application/service ecosystem around ChatON user base
- ChatON Live - 3rd Party Content Providers('Live Partner')
- Extend ChatON as self-service content delivery medium
- Provide content biz model to 3rd party content providers while maximizing user benefits
With the above strategies, ChatON team released ChatON API 1.0 closed-beta in 2012 to create an application based ecosystem. After the release, feedbacks from partners have been taken into account to improve issues related to 1.0 beta. Finally, ChatON API 2.0 has been released with the improvements.
Moreover, ChatON SDK has been released together in order to facilitate developers to use these APIs.
With the ChatON SDK, you can involve millions of ChatON buddies around the world in your upcoming apps and services, use various ChatON capabilities for your own applications, interact with your buddies directly from your application through embedded chat, invite ChatON buddies to play games together by sending invitation via ChatON, and more.
Features of ChatON SDK
ChatON SDK has been developed with the following three main improvements.
1) Server and client APIs have been unified as one single SDK.
ChatON SDK requires a partnership, so those wishing to use ChatON UI library without a partnership can still develop using the ChatON UI library downloadable from the developers' website.
2) User authentication has been simplified.
Instead of Samsung account, which was required for ChatON 1.0 API beta, if the user uses ChatON application, ChatON API can now be accessed with simple steps.
3) Gamification features have been added in order to extend social experience with 3rd party services.
The gamification features of ChatON SDK can be used to enjoy fun experience with ChatON friends on 3rd party services.
