ChatON API

With the ChatON API, you can involve millions of ChatON buddies around the world in your upcoming apps and services, use various ChatON capabilities for your own applications, interact with your buddies directly from your application through embedded chat, invite ChatON buddies to play games together by sending invitation via ChatON messenger, and more.

Features of ChatON API

The ChatON API consists of Server API and Client API. With the Client API, 3rd party applications can implement ChatON capabilities for different types of applications such as a native mobile client. With the Client API, 3rd party applications can directly call or invoke ChatON functionalities running on an Android device.

Client API

With the Client API, 3rd party applications can communicate with the ChatON application directly on a device without API Access Key.

  • It consists of 2 major API Classes–message API Class and utility API Class.
  • Currently the Client API is supported only on Android. The iOS version will be available soon.
API Class API Description
Message Send Text Message API used to send a Text message to specific buddies.
Send Text Message With URL API used to send a Text message with URL to specific buddies.
Send Multimedia Message API used to send a Multimedia message to specific buddies.
Send Multimedia Message With Text API used to send a Multimedia message with Text message to specific buddies.
Send Message for 3rd application API used to send a content with direct link of a 3rd party application, which will allow ChatON users to launch the 3rd party application via the link.
Utility Is ChatON Installed API used to check whether ChatON app is already installed.
Open ChatON Download Page API used to open a ChatON download page.

Server API

With the Server API, 3rd party applications can access ChatON features directly from the ChatON server.

  • It consists of 3 major API Goups - Connect API, Graph API, and message API Groups.
  • The Server API can be used regardless of the platform.
  • The Server API is only available to corporate partner.
API Group Description
Connect Support to authenticate user and to register user for 3rd party service
Graph Support to check user’s profile information, to get buddy list, to check if user is a registered ChatON user and to add a buddy
Messaging Support to send message (1:1, 1:N, broadcast)

Request for Corporate Partnership

In the current release, most of the Client APIs are open to the public without API Access Key, while the Server API is available for corporate partners (closed-beta).

    Make sure you have a “Samsung Account” If you don’t have Samsung Account, you can create new account here

    If you want to become a Corporate Partner,please complete a partnership request form. Please be sure to attach your service concept and use-case scenario here

  3. STEP 03

    If your request in STEP 02 is approved by the ChatON API team, you will receive an approval e-mail The approval e-mail will be sent to your Samsung Account email
