FAQ

What are model groups?

The Seller Office uses model groups defined by Samsung to perform App Certification more efficiently.
In the Test Information step during app registration, you can see which TVs are in the selected model group by referring to the table below.

What are the app features you enter in the Test Information step?

This section is for entering special features supported by the app. This information is used by testers to perform tests during the App Certification stage.

What is an App Description File?

This is an optional file used to perform App Certification more efficiently. An App Description File contains key information for testers when testing the app on an actual device, such as the UI structure, usage scenarios, descriptions of menus and features, and key points.
Lack of information in the submitted file may cause delays in the certification step. Please refer to the template provided and provide as much information as possible.

What are captions?

To comply with the FCC’s IP video closed caption rule, Content Providers (CPs) must support closed captions for IP video. In particular, applications bundled with a device are considered to be part of the device, and are covered by more stringent rules pertaining to devices (Section 203 of the CVAA). For these bundled applications, a CP must use either their own solution or the manufacturer’s solution for captioning. This solution must handle complicated closed caption user attributes as listed in the FCC rules. The definition of these attributes draw from the CEA 708 standard.
