Trying to install an application on my Gear S3 using Tizen's Device Manager I get the following error message:

Cannot install application.
Operation not allowed [-4]

Same result on the command line:

sh-3.2$ /usr/bin/pkgcmd -q -i -t tpk -p org.example.widget-1.0.0-arm.tpk
path is /opt/usr/home/owner/share/tmp/sdk_tools/tmp/org.example.widget-1.0.0-arm.tpk
__return_cb req_id[1] pkg_type[tpk] pkgid[org.example.widget] key[start] val[install]

__return_cb req_id[1] pkg_type[tpk] pkgid[org.example.widget] key[end] val[fail]

processing result :   [-4] failed

Using the emulator everything is fine.

Many thanks for support

I suppose it happens because certification issue. To install wgt/tpk on real device you have to generate a certifcate with DUUID of the device.
You can easily do it inside Tizen Studio IDE.

Thanks, but because the device was connected when creating the certificate, the DUID has been added automatically. And I also permitted to install applications in the file explorer of Tizen's device manager.

Perhaps you have another idea why the installation does not work?

Try with keeping time sync of your device with development platform.

Thanks, both were already pretty much in sync.

Is anybody anware of a more detailed overview on pkgcmd error codes?
