Hi all,

I'm having a few concern regarding uploading standalone app for the Gear 2 to the seller office.

From what I read in the provided Getting Started guide, you still need to pack your standalone wgt file in an apk, so that the host device (android) can send the wgt file to the wearable one (tizen). That's what I also heard in the Samsung developer conference. However, when I upload a new app in Samsung apps seller, I choose Android -> Native App -> Gear app -> Standalone Gear app, and it actually forces me to upload a wgt file, not the apk one. Is this correct? Can I upload only the wgt file? How will the Gear manager send the wgt file to the watch without using the host apk file?

Is the wgt file I need to upload the one I have in the project folder?

Thanks!

I don't think so.
When I try to upload my application to Samsung Seller Office, I saw the below information at the screen for uploading a binary.

- Please upload an application file.
* Only .apk and .wgt file types are supported.
- Uploading time is up to the binary size.

That means you can upload a file of *.apk or *.wgt type.
But, Samsung is guiding that Standalone type application also should be packaged as APK file type.
Therefore, would you try to upload your APK file?

Please see my above attachment for more information regarding this issue. From the message I receive, I'm allowed to upload the wgt file only. This is confusing. I'm using the English version of the seller office.

I have also changed my language to Chinese/Korean, and I still receive the same message. I tried uploading a wgt file to the site, and all went fine. I'm not sure how the file is sent to the Gear 2 though :-/

As per the developer link http://developer.samsung.com/samsung-gear
if you choose Standalone app you can upload only a wearable side widget.
The samsung apps in gear manager should be able to identify your app type and send it to the waerable device accordingly.

Thanks for replying. I really hope that is the case, so I don't have to touch Android SDK just for packing the wgt file.

I can't find that information on the Gear developer page that you provided though. Can you point me to that statement?
