Certification Process

The following questions are related to the QA certification process.

On average, the process takes 4 days. The time required to certify and publish your application depends on tester availability and the number of certification rounds needed to resolve defects. To reduce the number of possible defects, test the application comprehensively before submitting it.

To request an expedited review, create a "1:1 Q&A" support ticket describing your need.

Before an application can be published, it is tested by the QA certification team to make sure essential features are implemented, functional, and follow Samsung TV application policies.

For information on the mandatory features and specific test cases that are verified during certification, see Development Checklist.

Note Applications for 2015 and later models must support multitasking.

Applications for 2015 models must also support the air pointer. Enable it using the pointing-device-support attribute in the tizen:setting element of the "config.xml" file.

On the App Management page in the Seller Office, an application status label is shown for each of your applications. The application status represents the application's overall stage in the application life-cycle.

On the App Information page for a specific application, each model group has a model group status label. It represents the certification process stage for that specific model group.

For detailed information on the application and model group status labels, see Application Lifecycle.

If your application content has geolocation or IP-restricted access, you must list the applicable countries and permit access through a VPN, or whitelist the testing IP addresses. To access the testing IP address list, in the Seller Office, select "Self Checklist".

You must provide the configuration needed for the QA certification team to fully verify all application features. If a feature cannot be tested, it causes application certification to fail with critical defects. For more information on the required test information, see Use Cases.

Applications for unsupported devices (more than 3 years old) are certified through Special Process Review (SP-review). SP-review certification can take several weeks.

Most application information fields can be modified at any time. However, the following application information fields cannot be modified during the certification process:

App title (for the default language)

Category

Icon images

Country

Note After the application has been submitted, the application service country can only be modified by agreement with your Content Manager.

For more information, see Modifying App Basic Information.

Yes. In the Seller Office, you can drop an application from the certification process through the App Information page:

In the "Model Group" section, select "Drop".

Select the model groups you want to remove from the certification process, and enter the reason.

Click "Submit". The selected model groups are removed from the certification process.

If you want to submit the application again later, you must increment its version number.

For more information, see Certification Drop.

Note Special Process Review (SP-review) cannot be dropped through the Seller Office. To request dropping an SP-review, create a "1:1 Q&A" support ticket and provide the following information:

Application ID

Application name

Application version

Your application is tested on devices from each model group selected in your application submission.

Yes. In the Seller Office, add or remove target model groups during certification through the "Model Group" section on the App Information page:

To add target model groups, select "Request Add Model Group". Select the model groups and application version you want, and click "Submit". The certification process is initiated for the added model groups. For more information, see Adding Model Groups.

To remove target model groups, select "Drop". Select the model groups you want to remove, enter the reason, and click "Submit". The selected model groups are removed from the certification process. For more information, see Certification Drop.

Yes. After the application passes certification, it is published separately for each model group. You can expand application support to more model groups at any time.

Once you have submitted your application, you can no longer modify the test information. You can create a "1:1 Q&A" support ticket with the additional information, but the information is not guaranteed to reach the QA certification team in time.

If the additional information is crucial, you must drop the certification process and submit a new application version that includes the complete test information.

The various QA certification centers worldwide have different holidays, which can delay the certification process. To request a status update or an expedited review, create a "1:1 Q&A" support ticket describing your need.

If your application supports credit card purchases, you must provide test credit card information in the application UI description file. A video of the feature being used is not acceptable.

You must provide all the information needed for the QA certification team to fully verify all application features. Missing test information causes application certification to fail with critical defects. For more information on the required test information, see Use Cases.

If your application requires a user login, you must provide test account credentials, such as PIN codes, or user names and passwords, in the application UI description file.

You must provide all the information needed for the QA certification team to fully verify all application features. Missing test information causes application certification to fail with critical defects. For more information on the required test information, see Use Cases.

After the application has been submitted for certification, if you want to change the release request date, you must contact your local Content Manager or create a "1:1 Q&A" support ticket.

Note To ensure server stability, applications cannot be published on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.

To change or add target countries for your application, contact your Content Manager.

You must be a member of a partner group to publish your application outside the United States. For information on becoming a partner group member, see Partnership Request.

To request security white papers, contact your local Content Manager.

While your application is undergoing certification for a specific model group, you cannot submit an updated version for the same model group.

You can submit the update once the model group status is "Waiting for Release", or after dropping the certification process for that model group.

   #update    #model group    #waiting for release    #drop    #version up

Some time before the latest TV model groups become available to you in the Seller Office, each published partner application is tested on them for compatibility. If there are no critical defects, the application is published for the new model groups. Otherwise, to ensure your application is available for the model groups immediately, you can fix the defects and submit a compatibility version. For more information, see Compatibility Defect Resolution.

If you have crucial instructions that must be followed when publishing the application, specify the instructions in your application submission, at the top of the "Note to Tester" field, using a clear heading.

To make sure the Seller Office is aware of the request, also create a "1:1 Q&A" support ticket detailing your publication instructions.

   #publishing    #publication instructions    #notification    #special request

No. To ensure that the application works properly when it is published, the application must access live server content. Do not submit an application that accesses only test servers.
