Recapping Tizen at Samsung Developer Conference 2019
Samsung Developer Conference 2019 was held in San Jose, California, on Oct. 29 and 30. The conference keeps getting larger, and the Tizen zone within SDC has expanded as well. This year, not only did the Tizen .NET Team host booths and a session, but several partner booths demonstrated their real-world Tizen .NET solutions.
Samsung Developer Conference 2019
The Samsung Developer Conference brings together thousands of developers, creators, and technology experts to explore the latest Samsung technologies and imagine the future with Samsung.
Hobum (Vincent) Kwon, who heads the Tizen .NET framework team, led a session that introduced and explained new features on the Tizen 5.5 platform, including new features on Tizen .NET. This year, we were very honored to invite David Ortinau, Principal Program Manager at Microsoft, to the session to share information about .NET 5 and Xamarin.Forms. At the end of the session, Diego Lizarazo Rivera, Sr., Developer Evangelist at Samsung Electronics, showed a live coding demo.
Our main booth exhibited Tizen .NET on Samsung products, including SmartTV, Galaxy Watches, and Family Hub.
We showed several demos, including:
- New features on the Tizen .NET framework
- Lottie Animation support on products
- Xamarin.Forms 4.3.0 new features, including Shell and CollectionView
- Xamarin.Essentials official support
- Material design
- Tizen .NET widget support on Galaxy Watch
The Weather app, introduced in .NET Conference 2019, has been brought into Samsung products, and it runs easily on Galaxy Watch, Smart TV, and Family Hub.

We had a Tizen .NET SDK booth promoting the Tizen .NET development environment. This year, we announced the release of Visual Studio for Mac Extension for Tizen, which is awesome for Mac users.
