Samsung’s Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec is a new video codec for prosumers who do not want to compromise on quality while enjoying the convenience of capturing video using smart phones. This codec was developed to address the unique needs of the growing ecosystem for cinematic-quality video recording and post-production. It provides perceptually lossless video quality and consumes 20% less storage compared to existing formats. In this session, we present an overview of the technologies incorporated in the APV codec and describe its versatile features that enable high-quality recording along with ease of real-time editing needed for professional video coding applications.
