Introducing Galaxy Store Closed Beta and Staged Rollout APIs

The Galaxy Store has new API features for developers using our Content Publish APIs. In order to reduce the burden on publishers, we have automated closed betas and staged rollouts. Whether you’re adding or deleting beta testers or incrementally releasing updates to groups of users, you no longer need to manually log into Seller Portal. The new APIs are built using the same RESTful API format as the existing Content Publish APIs, for a seamless experience for those already familiar with it. Learn more about it via the link below.

SDC24 Keynote Highlights - "A Decade of Innovation and a Journey toward AI for All"

Samsung Developer Conference 2024 (SDC24) was held on October 3 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. The event welcomed over 3000 developers, partners, and media from around the world under the theme of “AI for All - A Decade of Open Innovation and Beyond.” Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, unveiled a vision of delivering more personalized and secure experiences through multi-device AI technology during his keynote speech, while Daehyun Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Global AI Center, Samsung Research, outlined the company’s AI research direction. Tutorial: Utilizing WindowManager's Rear Display Mode

Having taken the mobile industry by storm, Samsung Galaxy Fold devices offer users a revolutionary way to interact with their applications. One of Samsung Galaxy Fold's key features is the rear display mode that enables users to continue their tasks seamlessly on the cover display while the main display remains turned off. Jetpack WindowManager has introduced APIs to enable this mode programmatically. Starting from One UI 6.0, developers can utilize these APIs to integrate the rear display mode into their applications, enhancing usability and maximizing the potential of foldable devices.

Samsung Electronics Unveils "Samsung Health Research Stack" Open Source Project for Digital Healthcare Research

Samsung Electronics unveiled “Samsung Health Research Stack,” an open-source project for reinforcing data-based digital healthcare research. Samsung Health Research Stack supports digital healthcare research and development using wearable devices based on Android and Wear OS, providing a software environment where IT developers and medical researchers can plan their research in a convenient and secure way using relevant data.

The Research Stack is accessible to everyone, including digital healthcare companies and institutions providing medical services. It can be used in developing solutions using wearable devices, biomarker research, etc. It provides the backend service to comprehensively manage data collected via applications and the web portal for planning research and data analysis, as well as the application SDK that helps develop research applications easily, facilitating more efficient digital healthcare research. Open Source, Open Hardware Ground Truth for Visual Odometry and SLAM Applications

We are seeing rapid development of hand-held mobile mapping systems incorporating the latest advances in SLAM technology. The system allows for the creation of accurate and precise 3D point clouds and trajectories, which can be used as ground truth for visual odometry (VO) and SLAM applications. The limitations of existing approaches have been related to the high complexity of the mobile mapping system and the overall cost of the solution. For these reasons, we propose a novel, open hardware mobile mapping system:

•   Hand-held
•   Weighs less than 1kg
•   LiDAR range: up to 40m
•   Affordable cost
•   Can be used both indoors and outdoors
• Up to 5 hours of continuous scanning with a velocity of up to 10km/h
•   Equipped with a holder for a smartphone

DVI-SLAM: Dual Visual Inertial SLAM Network

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) is a technology that enables an unmanned vehicle to estimate and recognize its current location and create maps without external assistance, using only the sensors attached to it. It is used primarily in robots and autonomous driving vehicles.

DVI-SLAM, introduced in this study, is an optimization-based deep learning method that estimates camera poses and depths by dynamically integrating re-projection, feature-metric and IMU multiple factors. Using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) in visual SLAM, it is designed to maintain stable performance even during rapid movements and yield optimal performance by dynamically adjusting the reliability of each factor. We were able to confirm via experiments that it outperforms existing SLAM methods in accuracy and robustness. Learn more about this on the Samsung Research blog.
