blogintroduction smartphones have become an essential part of our everyday lives. users are continually searching for more convenient ways to perform their tasks on their smartphones, driving them toward services with greater usability. as smartphones advance, our lives become simpler. galaxy users have completely embraced the convenience of paying with samsung pay, and no longer carry physical payment cards. this led to the evolution of samsung pay into samsung wallet, incorporating biometric-authentication-based security solutions and adding various features to replace conventional wallets. since june 2022, samsung wallet has been expanding its service area based on the existing samsung pay launching countries. this article aims to introduce samsung wallet and guide you through the integration process of the "add to samsung wallet" feature, which allows you to digitize various content and offer them as wallet cards. notice this article introduces non-payment service cards. if you want to learn more about the payment service of samsung wallet, visit the samsung pay page. you can get information on online payment services such as in-app payments, web checkout, and w3c payments. add to samsung wallet service let's delve deeper into the "add to samsung wallet" feature. digitized content registered in samsung wallet comes in the form of cards called wallet cards. registering a wallet card is effortless: simply click the "add to samsung wallet" button, and the card is stored securely on users’ galaxy smartphones. "add to samsung wallet" button and wallet card notice the benefits of using wallet cards can be found in the commercial video forgetting can be awesome. wallet cards the "add to samsung wallet" service is an open platform that supports offering various types of content such as wallet cards. we are streamlining service integration with content providers across different regions and adding useful features. boarding pass event ticket loyalty gift card coupon id card generic card pay as you go (in progress) reservation (in progress) digital key (in progress) notice generic card supports unstructured forms of cards. be a samsung wallet partner partner onboarding to begin offering content through samsung wallet, you must first register as a partner on the samsung wallet partner portal. the integration process is detailed on the samsung developer portal. to join the samsung wallet partner portal, create a samsung account that is used as the service administrator. wallet card management once enrolled, you can create service cards on the wallet cards menu. each card is assigned a card id representing the service, and you can set the card type and linking information. you can manage cards according to their status – test or live. configuring wallet card notice after completing all required forms for the wallet card, click the launch button to request card activation. before providing the service to actual users, remember to turn off the 'test mode.' how to safely secure user data key generation and certificate request the registration process includes certificate exchange to securely transmit service data. refer to the diagram and developer guide, security key & certificate creation guide, to complete the certificate registration and partner enrollment smoothly. certificates exchange process ensuring data security to prevent forgery and leakage of user card data, secure tokenization processing is required. json web token (jwt), which includes encryption and signature, has a validity time basis for verification, thus providing enhanced security. in particular, when generating this token, the key and certificate previously obtained through the certificate exchange process are used. process of generating and verifying security tokens notice depending on how partners provide content services to users, you can choose how to deliver data to the samsung wallet service. two ways to transfer wallet card data add to samsung wallet interface provides two methods for partners to deliver users digital content as wallet cards. data transmit link the general way to transfer wallet card data is to organize tokenized data in the link attached to the button, and the card data is transmitted to the samsung wallet service when the user clicks the button. as long as samsung wallet support is confirmed, you can generate a link containing the user's card data and configure the "add to samsung wallet" button to run the link when pressed, either on an application or web page. data transmit process data fetch link another method to transfer wallet card data is to include only the refid, which represents the user's content, in the "add to samsung wallet" link and transmit it to the samsung wallet service. when a user clicks the "add to samsung wallet" button, samsung servers refer to the get card data api information set on the wallet card and retrieve user content using the received refid to complete registration. data fetch process this method is suitable for providing user's data through email or mms messages where static links cannot be avoided. there is an option to secure these static links. data fetch process for static links setting up data synchronization on the partner portal, you can set up the wallet card information and configure the server interaction api that the content provider needs to prepare. this api is an interface for managing card registrations, deletions, information, and state changes to sync with those registered on samsung wallet. register wallet cards when a user card is added to samsung wallet, samsung wallet servers use the send card state api to communicate card registration and deletion status to the content provider, allowing them to manage content that needs to be synchronized with samsung wallet. when a wallet card is registered, added event is sent to the partner's server update wallet cards changes to the synchronization target content can be notified to the samsung wallet service through the update notification api. here, the value that distinguishes each piece of content is the refid that the partner must provide when registering the users’ wallet card. through the get card data api, samsung wallet servers can check the latest content information any time. if updates occur on the partner's side, updated event notifications should be sent to the samsung server in case users withdraw content from the partner's side in case users delete cards from samsung wallet notice both servers should verify requests using the authorization header of the api request. this authorization token is in jwt format, familiar from card data security. effortless wallet card registration with just one click this feature is primarily composed of a link-connected button and can be provided through the content provider's application, web page, email, or mms message. various service channels javascript library for web developers we provide a javascript library and a user guide, implement the button, to help integrate your web pages. creating buttons and links in your app for configuring buttons in applications, utilize the button image resources. providing services via mms, email, or qr codes to provide services through fixed links, check out the details of the data fetch link. these static links can also be used by scanning qr codes. experience the service and practice you can experience service integration development using the codelab and use the testing tool to preregister the wallet cards created on the partner portal, which could be helpful. conclusion we've looked at how to provide digital content through the "add to samsung wallet" feature. we continuously update the guides on the developer portal, so please refer to them when preparing for integration. summary the "add to samsung wallet" service welcomes participation from content service partners and developers. for inquiries or technical support, please contact us through the form provided on the developer portal. i hope this post has been helpful, and now i'll conclude my writing here. thank you. this post was written based on the sdc23 korea session.

events mobile, ar/vr/xr, game
blogsiggraph, inaugurated in 1974, is the largest general-purpose computer graphics (“…and interactive techniques”) technical conference in the world. since 1999 i’ve visited whenever i can. there's a lot of focus in off-line production rendering and desktop graphics, and i find that the latest research, techniques, and technology eventually percolate to real-time and mobile devices. it's also inspiring to see advances in state of the art. if you see a talk like "fractional gaussian fields for modeling and rendering of spatially-correlated media” and think “ooh!" siggraph is the conference for you. [caption id="attachment_11480" align="aligncenter" width="699"] pixel gets ignored by an attendee at the south hall entrance[/caption] this year the conference returned to los angeles. it was the largest since 2012, with 180 exhibitors and 18,700 attendees. no longer bigger than gdc, and less than half the size of my first siggraph, but still a reassuring upward trend. several sessions were heavily over-subscribed – notably the always-popular “advances in real-time rendering” course (with a "…for games" suffix the last couple of years), and the nvidia “deep learning for content creation and real-time rendering" session. packed sessions were made more uncomfortable by poor air conditioning, so i was glad to have been acclimatized by the brief heatwave in the uk. mobile sessions were relatively sparse this year – although google had several interesting papers, mostly in the area of computational photography. unusually, apple presented vendor sessions on realitykit and metal. virtual reality remained popular, with the now-annual vr theatre and several examples in the emerging technologies area. while neither phone vendors such as samsung nor mobile gpu vendors like arm and qualcomm had exhibitor booths this year, engineers were present in force. in contrast, game engine titans unity and epic were highly visible on the show floor, as were the perennial motion capture rigs – which are becoming more effective, real-time and commoditized for game developer use. the annual real time live session goes from strength to strength. notable this year was an encore appearance by level ex, demonstrating real-time ray tracing on mobile, although not necessarily rendering what you might expect. i was pleased to see both awards for the participants go to the very cool ai technology gaugan, co-developed by chris hebert, a samsung uk alumnus (see image below). [caption id="attachment_11483" align="aligncenter" width="699"] gaugan (draw the image on the left, get the image on the right, ai is scary)[/caption] there is usually a hot research topic at each siggraph which dominates the technical sessions. unsurprisingly, after last year's announcement of dxr and this year's reveal of the nvidia turing architecture, there was a heavy focus on ray tracing. one could spend almost the entire conference in ray-tracing sessions and still miss some. dedicated ray tracing hardware has expanded the number of game engines using true ray casting, increasing developer productivity. although increasing gpu speed has allowed selective ray-traced effects for some years now, research is currently very active. the importance of appropriate sampling and ray types in practical engines was stressed to non-expert developers, and there was a public claim that ray tracing would be ubiquitous in five years. still, even with a titan rtx, current ray-traced scenes were often visibly noisy. technology has advanced, but not infinitely. while there was some evidence of this in previous years, there was a big step forward this time in noise reduction: blue noise, temporal aa, and especially machine-learning denoising networks. some of the denoising networks can achieve remarkable results with a minimal number of samples; others are in active use by film studios to improve preview times. currently, the most effective techniques are computationally costly, but ea discussed how best to combine real-time approaches in the pica pica demo, and nvidia discussed denoising in quake ii rtx. we are some way from mobile-ray-tracing being viable for general use, but the results achieved with such limited ray throughput are starting to convince me that it should be on everyone’s radar, especially with machine learning hardware taking off. i think we'll be busy with the rasterizer for a while yet, though! [caption id="attachment_11481" align="aligncenter" width="699"] exhibition floor and geek bar[/caption] it wasn’t all ray tracing. motion capture, learned character motion, and simulating real-world surfaces all got their time, along with advances in fluid and collision modeling. siggraph typically has several parallel tracks and usually manages to have at least two talks you'd like to see at any given moment, not counting the customary papers that are cool, but you'll never need to use. fortunately, the technical papers fast-forward session was available to provide an overview of everything (with traditional damage to the stanford bunny and armadillo models). it's too bad the reduced presentation times this year made it disappointingly more serious than usual. usually, the computer animation festival lightens things up a bit. alongside the showcase of major studio work, there were some examples of the traditional dark humor: wild love and stuffed, as well as the inappropriate comedy of kinky kitchen. this year the organizers seem to have felt the need to have a message in a lot of the pieces, though. igor coric’s "passage," the stained club, hedgehog, and the tree were all moving, but hardly uplifting, and i left slightly shell-shocked. even if more political than usual, the festival did at least maintain the tradition of something weird. [caption id="attachment_11505" align="aligncenter" width="700"] cap’s shield – marvel studios (production gallery)[/caption] victoria alonso, executive vp of production at marvel studios, gave this year's keynote. she endeared herself to the audience by saying she was a long-time siggraph attendee, and further won over a subset of the crowd by saying she wanted to keep film production local to los angeles. unfortunately, i was i bit less enamoured of her admitted dislike of comics and fixation on the record earnings of avengers: endgame — but i suppose film producers don't have to be geeks like me! several marvel costumes did make it to the production gallery for the second year running, which was cool to see. in contrast, i had the privilege to catch katie bouman (above), of the event horizon team, giving her "imaging a black hole with the event horizon telescope" talk. the audience of image-processing and computer-vision professionals really appreciated this session. finally, the khronos group gave a well-attended round-up of the state of their apis. their after-party was unusually filled with many new faces – apparently due to the launch of the company's "3d commerce" initiative. [caption id="attachment_11491" align="aligncenter" width="700"] the sun sets on another siggraph[/caption] and so another siggraph came to an end. next year siggraph hits washington dc, which at least means my flights will be cheaper and shorter. i hope to see you there!

events galaxy watch, marketplace
blogmy name is chris shomo and i’m the owner of infinity watchfaces - creator of dynamic, animated watch faces designed to "wow" the wearer and portray some of the powerful capabilities of the samsung galaxy watch series. i graduated from the savannah college of art and design in 2005. here is a clip about me and the school. my experiences at sdc my sdc adventures started in 2017 and the awesome part was that samsung invited me. i had been creating watch faces since the previous year when the gear watch designer beta came out (now called galaxy watch studio). my original intent was to start making them for myself because back in february of 2016 there were not many watch face options on galaxy apps (now galaxy store). while experimenting with the design software i happened to read that i could create a seller account and start selling my designs. how cool would it be to make watch faces and let others experience them as well, right? well that’s what i did. millions of downloads later, people everywhere are wearing my designs. the most rewarding part is hearing back from the amazing folks from all over the earth about how much they enjoy having joe the running dog, fred the butterfly, dancing tigers, lighting bolts, unicorns, grooving astronauts, surfing aliens and more on their wrist. if i can bring a smile to someone’s face for a moment — offer them a happy escape from this crazy reality we are living in for just a bit, then i have accomplished my goal. but back to sdc, wow, can you imagine the look on my face when an email came in from one of the developers of gear watch designer!? the samsung developers team was getting together a group of watch face and theme designers to have booths at the 2017 conference in san francisco and my designs had sparked their attention. not only that, they wanted me to speak during a session called become a gear watch designer! money making tips and tricks from top designers. how cool is that!? when an opportunity like this presents itself, you have to jump at it. no hesitation. throughout the summer of 2017 i worked back and forth with the samsung team, prepared the presentation materials, and i was off to san francisco in october, excited and i’ll admit a little nervous. this was my first tech conference and words can’t describe how honored i felt to embark on this journey with samsung developers. sdc 2017 was brilliant! not only was stan lee (of marvel comics fame) there, but there were tech professionals from all over the industry, and from all over the world. quickly, i discovered that this is the place to be if you want to reach out and network with other like-minded designers and developers. it’s a chance to be among the movers and shakers that have partnered or are looking to join up and be part of the samsung family. the samsung developers team was so welcoming and soon most of my nerves had changed over to excitement... except on the day of the presentation. i was thankful the samsung team prepared us for the presentation so well and helped with a practice run-through before the audience and going live on youtube. this allowed me to get all those butterflies out of my stomach and the experience went smoothly. so well, in fact, that this session’s presentation inspired many designers to jump into watch face design for samsung smartwatches. one of my favorites, avee, who has usa design on galaxy store, later told me that this presentation is what got him started. he had developed a really cool hamster rolling game for the watch and i remember thinking—wow, he’s got a great future ahead of him. well, now he has some of the most amazing watch faces out there! in 2018, i was asked to participate in a watch face/theme gallery that was located at the entrance exhibit/booth area. again, another amazing experience and a chance to reflect on how much samsung developer has grown to embrace the watch face design community. what started as a small section of designers the year before, introducing what can be created on the galaxy watches using the software, turned into a phenomenon of designers uploading their designs into the newly named "galaxy store" for people to enjoy. in 2019, i was also able to attend and reconnect with awesome people i met throughout the years, and also got to finally meet some more designers and friends i knew from online chats. by creating the galaxy watch studio and wonderfully curating galaxy store, samsung sparked a design community that ignited into brilliant designs dancing on their watch screens, which has truly set their watches apart from any other. i love showing off my galaxy watch with one of my dynamic, animated designs on it and the first thing out of their mouth is, "wow, what kind of watch is that!?" thank you samsung! chris shomo, founder of infinity watchfaces resources for sellers at galaxy store we'd like to express our sincere thanks to chris for sharing his experiences with us. as a notable seller on samsung galaxy store, his success is an inspiration to all designers and developers looking for new channels to monetize their work. for more information on signing up and selling on galaxy store, look into the galaxy store documentation. for assistance with setting up and starting your sales campaigns, the galaxy store discussion forums are where you can get great insights from chris and other sellers. we look forward to sdc 2022 in a few weeks. join us online to watch the keynote and learn in the technical sessions at samsungdeveloperconference.com. join us on twitter, facebook, linkedin, and youtube to continue the discussion.
