The Samsung Health Accessory SDK defines Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) compatible guidelines and Samsung Health specifications based on Bluetooth Generic Attributes (GATT), including service structure, to connect with Samsung Health.
BLE compatible guidelines include data communication flows defined in BLE standard specifications required by Samsung Health.
Through a wide variety of compatible health devices, users can sync data related to blood glucose levels, blood pressure, heart rate, weight, temperature, cycling power and cycling speed and cadence with Samsung Health.
Additionally, Samsung Health provides data flows and specifications for upcoming supported services, including pedometers and exercise and sleep monitors, which are not covered in standard BLE specs.
These standards are set forth in a similar structure to BLE standard specs, Allowing device vendors to easily adapt to the specifications.

SmartThings is an application to help user to connect, monitor, and control multiple smart home devices.
Samsung Health devices can quickly and easily be onboarded on SmartThings. After onboarding, Samsung Health can connect to the device automatically for use.
The SmartThings Support Specification provides Samsung Health guidelines for health devices to support the interworking between Samsung Health and SmartThings. It includes the recommended specification and communication flow.

The Accessory SDK, on the other hand, defines data interaction protocols between devices and the Health application, standardizing data formats (such as sensor readings and commands) and facilitating real-time communication. Together, they ensure device-to-device functionality: the SmartThings Support Specification handles device management, while the Accessory SDK governs post-connection data flow. Developers must integrate both SDKs to achieve seamless device integration and reliable data exchange.

Yes, All future health devices will only support onboarding through the ST platform. This is intended to provide a unified user experience without requiring users to distinguish between health devices and other categories of equipment.

FTMS integrates fitness equipment with Samsung Health through Bluetooth (BLE), enabling seamless real-time data collection and recording of workout metrics such as calories burned, and exercise duration. This connectivity allows users to track progress and maintain a comprehensive fitness history within the Samsung Health app.

FTMS currently supports a variety of fitness equipment, including treadmills, indoor bicycles, and elliptical machines. These devices connect to Samsung Health via Bluetooth (BLE), allowing users to track and record workout data in real-time. Additionally, FTMS is actively expanding its compatibility to include rowing machines, step machines and stair climbers in the future, ensuring a broader range of fitness activities can be seamlessly integrated into the Samsung Health ecosystem.

FTMS enables the collection of a wide range of workout data, depending on the capabilities of the connected exercise machine.
Commonly recorded metrics include workout duration, speed, and distance, providing users with detailed insights into their exercise sessions.
Additionally, FTMS tracks calories burned, offering a clear measure of energy expenditure during workouts. For devices equipped with heart rate monitoring, This data is also captured, allowing users to optimize their training intensity.
Other metrics, such as strokes per minute (SPM) for elliptical machines or revolutions per minute (RPM) for bicycles, are recorded to offer precise performance tracking.
This comprehensive data collection ensures users can effectively monitor and analyze their fitness progress.

In the standard specification, The workout data items for each device are optional, But in the case of Accessory SDK FTMS, There are mandatory data items that must be specified. For more details, Please refer to the specification.
Example: Treadmill - Instantaneous Speed, Total Distance, Total Energy, Elapsed Time.

It does not support to control the fitness machine now. In the future it maybe supported.

Yes, It is compatible with BLE standard.

Currently, we mainly register the fitness machine from SmartThings app. You can scan it and register as APP displayed guide one by one.

You can remove the fitness machine device from SmartThings APP.

If you are using Samsung Health app, you can find all exercise data. And if you are using SmartThings APP, you can also enter to the fitness machine device view, it will display the last exercise data from this device.

Only Samsung Health can initiate the connection.

Currently, only one FTMS device can be connected at a time, and the connection of other devices is not restricted.
