Samsung SmartTV S Server (2013VM) User Guide

This document explains how to use the Samsung SmartTV S Server (2013VM).


The Samsung SmartTV S Server and S Client are server/client programs that allow a Smart TV Emulator hosted on a web server to be executed on remote clients. This document covers the Samsung Smart TV S server.


This document is designed to introduce usage of the Samsung SmartTV S Sever.


The intended audience of this guide is application developers who develop applications based on Samsung Smart TV platform.

User Guide

S Server Install

Before installing S Server, VirtualBox must be installed first. To access Admin Tools Module in S Server, Chrome or Firefox must be installed. Download SServer_4.5.0020.ova inside package “Local Cloud Development Environment” from After installing VirtualBox, double click the ova file and import it into VirtualBox. Set the RAM to 1024MB to get better performance.

Virtual Box Network Setting


After setup, you must make sure the network connection type of VirtualBox is bridged

You can set the network connection type of VirtualBox by the following steps:

  • Exit the S Server program

  • Open the VirtualBox Manager

  • Right click on the left item “SServer”, and click the item “Settings”

  • Click on the left item “Network” Changed the “Attached to” option to “Bridged Adapter”

  • Start S Server in VirtulBox

  • After a few seconds the S Server starts successfully and shows the login screen

  • Login using the default username: “admin”, password: “admin” .

  • Go to the Network ‣ IP Setting page.

  • If use DHCP, the Server runs. however, if use Static IP, the Server can not be found.

  • Do not set IP address, it is obtained automatically.

  • Click the “Confirm” Button.

S Server

  • Please use Chrome or Firefox to visit the admin Tools module. The access address will be http://CurrentIP:8080/SServer/


Notice: Please replace the “CurrentIP” with the IP address you previously entered. If you don’t remember, please login Admin Tools module inside VirtualBox and read your current IP at Network ‣ IP Setting page.

Admin Account Management

  1. Login S Server

    • Run the S Server program. The login page will be displayed.

    • Fill the form with default username (admin) and password (admin). Choose “Remember me for one week” if you want to login S Server without inputting username and password again for one week. Click the Login button, and then you will get the S Server default page.

  2. Change admin’s password

    • Move over “Welcome admin” on the main page and choose the drop menu item “Change Password”.

  3. Logout S Server

    • Move over “Welcome admin” and click the drop menu item “Log Out”. After click, you will logout to the login page.

    • When your account logins on another site, you are forced to logout.

User Account Management

  1. User List

    • After successfully login, click “User Management” of the menu. The User Management page will show. If there is no user, it will show the following screen:

    • In the user list, admin can add, edit and delete users of S Client. Users that are currently logged in cannot be edited or deleted. The maximum number of users is 30. When the number of users reaches the maximum restriction, it will show as follows:

  2. Add User

    • Click “Add User” icon, then a popup will appear.

    • Fill the form with username, login password and confirm the password. Make sure the password has 4-20 characters and only contains letters or numbers. Click the “OK” button to submit.

    • If the user is added successfully, the new user will appear in the user list.

  3. Edit User

    • Click “Edit User” icon, then a popup will appear. Fill the form with new password and confirm password. Make sure the password has 4-20 characters and only contains letters or numbers. Click the “OK” button to submit.

  4. Delete User

    • Click “Delete User” icon, then a popup will appear to reconfirm.

System Information

  • Click the “System Information” tab of the menu. This screen displays CPU usage, memory usage, and online users:

Network setting

  1. IP setting

    • Move over the “Network” tab on the main page and click the drop menu item “IP Setting”.

    • After loading this page, you can see the current IP information of the server.

    • If you want to modify the IP settings, edit the form and click the confirm button:

    • After setting, you should relogin to the S Server using the new IP address.

  2. Network Proxy

    • Move over the “Network” tab and click the dropdown menu item “Network Proxy”.

    • After loading this page, you can see the current network Proxy of the server. If the current proxy method is none, the page will show as follow.

    • You can set network Proxy through three methods: none, manual, automatic. Choose the method you want and click confirm button to save.

    Once you have set up the proxy, you may not access Admin Tools Module by S Server inside VirtualBox. Error like “Unable to load page” will happen. If you want to access admin Tools by S Server inside VirtualBox, please set the proxy the “NONE” mode or use the proper proxy and restart S Server.

Server power management

  1. Power off

    • Under the “Turn Off” options, click “Power Off” to shutdown S Server.

  2. Reboot

    • Under the “Turn Off” options, click “Reboot” to reboot the S Server.
