Introduction to Tizen Extension SDK

  1. Gear Certificate

Tizen Extension SDK for Wearable makes it possible for application developers to run Tizen applications on Samsung Gear (Gear 2 / S / S2) according to the certificate policy. Tizen Extension SDK for Wearable provides new IDE functionalities to request and register certificates.

To protect Samsung Gear devices from malware or viruses, Samsung supports an own code signing policy.

Code signing protects your application from modifications and ensures your ownership during the version upgrade process. It is used in combination with the device information to ensure that your signed application runs only on those devices which you specify. It also ensures that your application cannot be distributed by someone else even if your application package is leaked.

  2. Extension APIs

This SDK contains Samsung Extension API to provide advanced access to the Samsung device's platform capabilities.

In case of Web Device API, it guarantees backward compatibility for old devices like Gear 2 and Gear S.

Especially SAP (Samsung Accessory Protocol) API is provided in both Web and Native developments. It allows service discovery and the creation of Accessory Service Connections between ALE(Application Level Entities) for data exchange.
