Samsung devices provides rich capabilities for media playback, including support for various media extensions, using the available audio and video decoders. This topic describes the media formats supported by Samsung Smart devices, and the limitations on their support.

MSE/EME Specifications
Samsung devices supports W3C Media Source Extensions™ (MSE) and Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) specification. This topic describes the supported versions and their supported DRM.
You can refer to the W3C specifications about MSE and EME as followings.
The following table lists the supported W3C MSE and EME specifications. These extensions allow you to use JavaScript to generate media streams for playback, and play DRM-enabled content without any third-party plugins.

- Samsung does not support AES-128, SAMPLE-AES and Verimatrix Web Client DRM-enabled content with MSE/EME.
- Samsung supports Widevine Modular since Tizen 2.4.
- W3C EME 0.1b draft specification was unpublished from the W3C web site. Refer to W3C First Public Working Draft 10 May 2013 instead.
